About Tutor Kieran
I was born and raised near London in England. I moved to Manchester when I was 18, where I completed my Bachelor’s Degree at The University of Manchester. While there, I wrote articles for The Mancunion, The UK’s largest student newspaper. After that, I wrote about film and politics for The Independent and The Huffington Post.
I was very involved in community environment projects in Manchester. As a result of my reputation as a film writer and environmentalist, I was invited to give a guest lecture at the University of Manchester for the Department of American Studies on Climate Change in Cinema. I then completed my certificates to Teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).
I left the UK and began working in Hai Phong, Vietnam. In over 3.5 years there, I built a career teaching English to students of all ages, as well as administering IELTS tests. I also was the English IELTS teacher at Vietnam Maritime University for 1.5 years.
In 2019, I moved from Hai Phong to Da Nang, and spent 2.5 years teaching English there. I accepted the position as English Lecturer at VNUK, The University of Da Nang. In this role, I helped students to improve speaking, writing, reading and listening skills, whilst providing them with the knowledge to communicate confidently in the modern world. I was quickly promoted to Academic Advisor, and developed a curriculum based around how to most effectively increase students’ IELTS scores. I also lectured on the Global Cultures course at VNUK in 2021.
That year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, I had to leave Vietnam and return to the UK.
When I returned, I started working as a GCSE and 11+ tutor in Essex.
I created “Tutor Kieran” and began teaching English online full-time.
I am excited to share my wealth of knowledge and experience with students looking to study English online, in countries all over the world.
Although I prefer teaching face-to-face, teaching English online has allowed me to work whilst pursuing my love of travelling. I have now visited nearly 70 countries, and I am always looking to broaden my horizons and pursue new opportunities.
